click link to view picture from the scene February 2, 2001 - 5:30pm - Unit #220 assisted the St. Louis County Police in Overland, MO with a stranded motorist blocking the right turn lane at the intersection of Page Rd. and Warson Rd. February 2, 2001 - 8:40pm - Unit #73 and unit #65 assisted a motorist on westbound I-44 about one mile east of Antire Rd. The motorist told 65 his friend was on the way to pick him up so 65 stayed behind him with his lights on until he arrived. 73 remained further back around the blind curve with his lights on to slow traffic. February 3, 2001 - 8:25pm - Unit #220 and unit #65 assisted a motorist on eastbound I-255 just east of I-55. 220 and 65 were merging onto I-255 from I-55 when 220 spotted and stopped next to the motorist. 65 circled back west to Highway 21, came back eastbound, and stopped behind the motorist with his lights on. The motorist had transmission trouble so 220 supplied them with a list of tow company phone numbers. 220 and 65 remained at the scene until the tow truck arrived. February 3, 2001 - 10:20pm - Unit #220 assisted a stranded motorist and his passenger on I-70 west of Zumbehl Rd. in St. Charles. The motorist sprung a leak in a radiator hose and 220 assisted by providing lighting, duct tape, and clamps to seal the leak. The motorists were on their way to Mexico, MO for a job. February 4, 2001 - 4:20pm - Unit #220 assisted two stranded motorists on Hwy 40/61 east of I-51 in Illinois. The motorists were on their way home, when they got a flat tire. 220 assisted by changing the flat tire for them. They had called AAA and were told it would be "at least" an hour to get to them. 220 gave the woman a card recognizing our R.E.A.C.T. team in St. Louis. February 4, 2001 - 7:40pm - Unit #220 attempted to assist a stranded motorist with a broken drive belt on I-64 near New Baden, Illinois. 220 drove to a nearby gas station and looked up local tow truck and hotel information for the man and his girlfriend. 220 was no longer needed at the scene, since the driver's buddy was on his way from St. Louis to tow him. February 4, 2001 - 8:30pm - Unit #65 assisted a lady with a flat tire on the shoulder of westbound I-44 just west of Antire Rd. A construction crew had already stopped and started to change the tire for her when 65 arrived so he used his flashlight to provide some light for them. February 9, 2001 - 8:40pm - Unit #65 assisted two ladies with a flat tire on eastbound I-44 just east of Bowles Ave. 65 used his hydraulic jack and helped the ladies change the tire. February 15, 2001 - 11:05pm - Unit #73, with 65 riding along, had just left a Pantera concert in 73's truck when they pulled up behind a minor three car accident blocking the right lane of South River Road in St. Charles, MO. 73 stopped behind the cars with his strobes on and checked on the people involved. There were no injuries so 73 called the St. Charles Police and remained at the scene. 65 directed traffic until the officer arrived. February 16, 2001 - 4:00pm to 6:15pm - Unit #65 performed traffic control at Notre Dame High School during a basketball game. There was a play scheduled to begin after the basketball game so 65 was there to direct the basketball traffic into one lot and close the other lot for theatre parking. February 28, 2001 - 9:00pm - Unit #220 assisted Hazelwood Police and Fire Departments with a car fire on I-270 westbound at Exit 27. 220 arrived on the scene first and blocked off three lanes (with his traffic cones) to protect motorists from the flames and smoke. A Hazelwood Police Officer thanked him for his efforts and said "you're free to go as soon as we get things under control here". Traffic was tied up in both directions while firefighters tended to the vehicle for 45 minutes.
