2, 2000 - 9:15pm - Unit #65 assisted a motorist out of fuel
on southbound I-270 one mile north of Highway 30. 65 had a container
of unleaded fuel but the truck took diesel. The driver called his
wife and thirty minutes later, she arrived with the fuel. 65 did
remain at the scene per the driver's request until his wife arrived.

December 8, 2000 - 8:45pm - Unit #65 assisted
a motorist out of gas on northbound I-270 just south of I-44. 65
put a gallon of gas in the motorist's tank and she was on her way
again.
December 11, 2000 - 6:50pm - While on
his way to the REACT meeting, unit #65 spotted two cars on the shoulder
of northbound I-55 just south of Lindbergh Blvd. One car was turned
around to jump start the other so 65 stayed behind them with his
lights on and provided traffic control while the driver turned the
car back around.

December 13, 2000 - 5:15pm - Unit #77
was driving east on Highway 40 just east of Hampton Ave when he
wittnessed a vehicle lose control on the highway and spin into a
fence. 77 called the St. Louis City Police.
December 16, 2000 - 8:55pm - Unit #65
and unit #220 assisted a stranded motorist on the shoulder of eastbound
I-44 just west of the Meramec River. The motorist had a dead battery
and because of the snowstorm and the minus 20 degree wind chill
he didn't want to walk for help. 65 used his jumper pack to jump
start the truck.

December 16, 2000 - 9:20pm - Unit #65
and unit #220 had just finished helping the motorist in the above
report when 220 answered a call for help on CB channel 9. A truck
driver gave a report of an overturned car on westbound I-44 two
miles west of Highway 141. 65 and 220 went to see if they could
help. They got to the scene just behind a St. Louis County Police
Car and found an overturned car blocking the left lane. The officer
asked for assistance to close the left lane. 220 waved traffic to
the right up by the officer and 65 remained further back to give
warning to the cars until more emergency vehicles arrived on the
scene. The officer thanked 220 and 65 for their help.



December 16, 2000 - 10:05pm - Unit #65
pulled up behind a car with a dead battery blocking the left lane
on the off ramp from northbound I-270 onto Highway 30. 65 turned
on his lights while a truck was turned around attemping to jump
start the car. Unit #220 pulled up behind 65 to also help with traffic
control on the slick roads. The truck got the car started after
a few attempts.

December 16, 2000 - 11:30pm - Unit #77
called the St. Louis City Police to notify them of a stalled car
blocking the left lane on the Missouri side of the Popular Street
Bridge.
December 17, 2000 - 5:20pm - Unit #77
came across a car in the ditch on I-70/55/44 one mile east of the
Popular Street Bridge in Illinois. There was a lady with the car
so 77 called the police for her.
December 17, 2000 - 8:45pm - Unit #65
assisted a motorist with a flat tire on the off ramp from southbound
I-270 onto Highway 30. The driver had AAA on the way so 65 remained
on the scene with his lights on. When the tow truck driver arrived
and started to change the tire on the driver's side, 65 waved traffic
out of the right lane for him.

December 17, 2000 - 9:15pm - Unit #65
assisted a motorist on the shoulder of northbound I-270 just north
of Highway 30. The driver was waiting for his father to arrive so
65 stayed behind him. When his father arrived, he hooked up the
van to tow it with his pickup. 65 followed them with his lights
on at a speed of 35mph to the next exit. Unit #220 was also there
for the assist.

December 17, 2000 - 10:25pm - Unit #65
assisted a motorist on the shoulder of southbound I-270 at I-44.
The motorist had a tow truck on the way with an ETA of one hour.
The driver told 65 he didn't need to stay behind him, he felt safe
with his triangle. 65 left a 30 minute flare behind the motorist.

December 21, 2000 - 9:00pm - Unit #65
and unit #73 assisted a stranded motorist out of gas on westbound
I-44 at I-270. 65 gave the motorist one gallon of gas and he was
on his way. 73 remained behind 65 and the motorist with his lights
on to slow traffic.

December 21, 2000 - 9:25pm - Unit #65
and unit #73 assisted a motorist on southbound I-270 north of Highway
21. 65 and 73 stayed behind the motorist with their lights on until
he fixed his engine.

December 22, 2000 - 9:00pm - Unit #65
assisted a stranded motorist on southbound I-270 at I-55. The motorist
was out of gas and told 65 he had called Motorist Assist four hours
ago and was still waiting for them. 65 gave him a gallon of gas
to get going again.

December 22, 2000 - 9:20pm - Unit #220
pulled up behind a stalled SUV blocking the right turn lane on Bowles
Ave. at I-44. The motorist had a tow truck on the way so 220 put
out cones and remained behind him with his lights on until a St.
Louis County Officer arrived thirty minutes later.

December 22, 2000 - 11:00pm - Unit #220
and unit #65 pulled up behind a motorist in a stalled car blocking
the left turn lane on the off ramp from southbound I-55 onto Meramec
Bottom Rd. 65 moved his car into the right lane with his lights
on to block it and 220 helped push the car onto the snow covered
shoulder. The driver and his friends refused further help and walked
away from the scene.

December 22, 2000 - 11:20pm - Unit #65
assisted a stranded motorist on westbound Highway 30 at West Watson
Rd. 65 let the motorist use his phone to call a friend and then
drove them to a Dierbergs store at Highway 30 and Highway 141 where
their friend would pick them up.

December 23, 2000 - 8:20pm - Unit #65
assisted a stranded motorist on northbound I-270 just south of I-44.
The motorist had a tow truck on the way so 65 remained behind her
with his lights on until it arrived.

December 29, 2000 - 8:25pm - Unit #65
pulled up in front of an unoccupied truck blocking the left lane
of northbound and southbound Lindbergh Blvd. at Baptist Church Rd.
65 remained at the scene with his lights on to warn traffic. After
about five minutes, the owner returned with a gasoline container
in his hand. He poured it into the tank and started the truck. He
then thanked 65 for staying with his truck.
