| 2007 Laumeier Park Art Fair |
| May
11 - 13, 2007 - Our team assisted the St. Louis County Park Rangers with
traffic control at the Laumeier Park Art Fair. Our team performed duties
such as stopping traffic at crosswalks for pedestrians, clearing traffic
from the intersection of Geyer & Rott Rd. when the fire truck would
leave the nearby station for a call, and directing traffic at the intersection
where the eastbound Rott Rd. was closed for the event. Even though road
closure signs were posted, some motorists still tried to drive around
the barricades. Friday night, one of our team members and two pedestrians
were nearly struck by a motorist that didn't understand the meaning of
a hand held stop sign. Our team member was able to step out of the way
and hold the stop sign out far enough to connect with the hood and windshield
of the vehicle, causing the driver to stop the vehicle for a moment (long
enough for the pedestrians to jump out of the way). Our team members got
the license plate and the local pd was called to the scene to take a report. |
